Wow: that sounds very serious and somewhat grandiose, doesn't it? Let me say first off that I've never gone in for 'proper' tightlacing, so all I've really done is gradually got acclimatized to wearing a corset - up to the point where I can wear one enjoyably and comfortably, spending 23/7 all nicely laced up!
The key, in my opinion, is that wearing a corset should be an enjoyable experience, and if it isn't then you're doing something wrong. As I think I've mentioned before I'm lucky in being pretty much a stock size and so I've never really worn a corset which didn't fit: the only real exception to that was an underbust corset which squeezed a rather unsightly bulge at the top (the proper term for which I've temporarily forgotten) and I subsequently sold it on Ebay.
I started off learning how to tie my own laces, just tight enough to be snug at first, and then being able to re-tighten a little after having being laced up for about an hour or so. I aimed initially to be in my corset for at least part of each day, adjusting the time spent to what I had ro do and how comfortable I was. If I started to feel a bit uncomfortable, I simply took it off to give myself a rest, but found it wouldn't usually be very long before I felt the urge to put it back on and wear it some more. I learned that the goal was to be able to pull my laces tight enough to eliminate the gap at the back of the corset in order to ensure the best fit. I was soon really hooked!
I can't now remember the little milestones: the first time I spent all day in a corset, the first time I slept in it, the first time I dared wear it out (undetectable under a sweater, although a T-shirt can be a bit of a give-away!). Throughout, though, the name of the game has always for me been pleasure. I love looking at myself corsetted in the mirror, admiring narcissistically the flat stomach and curvy bustline, running my hand over the shiny tight PVC, and feeling my body gripped and supported. Being in a corset is an amazingly sensual experience!

Best moment of the day
I slept in my corset last night - something I used to do regularly at one time but for one reason or another have got out of the habit of. When I donned it at bedtime, I noticed I must've lost a little bit of weight as it would lace up a little bit tighter than the previous few occasins when I'd worn it. Tracing my fingers over the smooth PVC caressing and hugging me all over as I dozed off, I woke up earlier this morning to the awesome feeling of being snugly corsetted.
I probably shan't keep it on today after my shower, as I've got a lot to do today and one disadvantage of PVC is that it's apt to make you hot and sweaty and consequently a bit itchy when the weather's really warm. But sitting here with my coffee with the early morning sun streaming through the window, I'm just nicely comfortable and more than a little turned-on.
Yay!

The big attraction
It's no exaggeration to say that I took to wearing a corset like the proverbial duck to water. I very quickly mastered the art of pulling and tying my laces nice and tight, wearing daily and building up fast to the point where I was able to sleep in a corset very soundly and comfortably. I couldn't get enough of it!
There's something, I find, intrinsically rather erotic about being in a corset. Part of it is the sensual feeling of constantly being hugged, but the fact that I've only ever worn womens' corsets, with a preference for black PVC ones at that, is I suppose the icing on the cake. I'm really lucky in being more or less a stock size so a female overbust style is pretty much a perfect fit on me. It's not for me to knock purpose-designed male corsets but I just don't personally like the style or look of them so I've never worn one.
I started off with around a 36/37" natural waist so with my very first corset I aimed for the 'standard' waist reduction of up to 6" and I bought a 32". Over the years that followed, I eventually achieved the goal of being able to wear a 26" corset but rather sadly lacked the perseverence or stamina to keep it up, and I'm presently laced up in a 30". Of all the corsets I've owned, my favourite has always been my black 28" which feels awsomely sexy to wear and really looks the business (well, I think so, anyway!).

How it all began
It all started off, as I remember, something like this: We'd all been sat there listening as she regaled us with the tale of her night out on the town in her rubber corset, and while most were somewhat grossed out by the whole thing, I was listening with rapt attention, my eyes almost on stalks. I couldn't have made it more obvious if I'd tried.
"You'd look good in a corset" she whispered as she eyed me up and down.
"Yeah, right" *sneer of derision*
"No seriously, you ought to try it: you'd enjoy it" *conspiratorial grin*
I've always been a huge believer in the 'try anything once' principle, and when not long afterwards I bought from an internet site, largely on impulse, a red rubber fetish corset of my own, I found almost immediately that prediction #2 came true. I didn't dare wear it out in public, so whether #1 was as well, I never properly got to find out.
In fact it wasn't much more than a waist cincher, and while I liked the rather kinky fun aspect of it tremendously, I soon found myself wondering what a proper corset would be like to wear. So... I saved up the money to buy myself a locking black leather bondage corset. If you're into bondage, then you don't need me to tell you what a huge turn-on that was to wear, and if you're not - then you don't know what you're missing!
So that was pretty much how I got started, some sixteen years ago now. The transition to wearing corsets with more of a functional idea behind them (after all, popping out to Tesco's clad only in a padlocked leather corset is going to raise more than the odd eyebrow or two) evolved more gradually over a period of time. I've been lucky enough to have been encouraged in my corsetting endeavours by several other guys, but while I've valued temendously all the advice and help I've received, what I'm going to write about on here is based on my own observations and experiences, and mine alone. So with that caveat in mind, here we go.....
